What Is an OPS Module? A Guide to Slot-In PCs for Interactive Panels

If your interactive panel needs to run full Windows software — not just the built-in Android apps — it needs a computer inside it. That computer usually comes in the form of an OPS module: a compact, slot-in PC that plugs directly into the back of the panel.

Why OPS instead of a regular desktop PC

  • No external wires, tower or separate monitor needed — it slots straight into the panel
  • Swappable and upgradeable without replacing the entire panel
  • Purpose-built for continuous classroom use, unlike consumer desktop PCs

What determines OPS performance

Like any PC, an OPS module's performance comes down to its processor, RAM and storage. A common, well-balanced configuration for classroom use is an Intel Core i7 (12th Gen), 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD — enough to comfortably run presentation software, browsers and lesson platforms without lag.

When you actually need an OPS module

If your school only uses the panel's built-in Android whiteboard tools, you may not need one at all. But if teachers rely on specific Windows software, offline lesson content, or need consistent performance across many open applications, an OPS PC module is worth the additional cost.

DigiCast supplies OPS i7 modules as an add-on for our Interactive Flat Panels. Ask our team whether your school needs one.
